What is Photonza, who built it and how does it work?
Photonza is an event photo-sharing platform founded in Türkiye in March 2026. Guests scan a QR code and join without downloading an app, then find every photo they appear in within seconds using a single selfie and AI face recognition. The selfie never leaves the device; all data is deleted 30 days after the event ends. It was formerly called WedMomento.

What is Photonza?
Photonza is a web platform that collects the photos and videos everyone takes at an event into one live feed and lets each participant find the frames they appear in with a single selfie. A guest scans the QR code, types their name and is in, right in the browser — no app download, no account.
The platform launched in March 2026 as WedMomento for weddings; in September 2026 it was renamed Photonza to cover corporate events, marathons, graduations and festivals too. wedmomento.com redirects to photonza.com.
How does Photonza work?
The organizer (a venue, photographer or event company) opens an account and creates the event in 60 seconds. The system generates a QR code, an invite code in the AND-XXXXXX format and a 4-digit PIN. Guests scan the QR code and type their name; photos, videos and notes land in the shared feed.
A guest who wants to find their photos takes a selfie. The numeric signature of the face is computed on the guest’s own phone; the selfie image never leaves the device. That signature is matched only against that event’s photos and videos. 30 days after the event ends, the event, all media and face signatures are permanently deleted.
What makes Photonza different?
Three concrete differences: (1) Guests need no app and no account; joining takes ten seconds. (2) The signature needed for face matching is computed on the device; the selfie is never uploaded. (3) Capacity is measured by uploaded photos, not by guests; guest count is unlimited in every package.
Beyond that, uploaded photos are sorted into 24 categories with AI, inappropriate content is filtered before it reaches the feed, there is a live slideshow mode for venue screens, and photographers manage bulk upload, watermarks, download restrictions and sales from their dashboard.
Technology
Photonza is a Progressive Web App built with Next.js and React and hosted on Vercel. The database and real-time feed run on Supabase (PostgreSQL + pgvector); photos and videos are stored on Cloudflare R2. Face recognition uses an open-source model; the resulting 1024-dimensional vectors are matched with pgvector. OpenAI models are used for content moderation and categorization.
